During the summer semester, our BSCS students, especially 3rd year students who are due to complete their degree in the next academic year, have participated in the summer internship program exposing them to the realities of the working environment. Most worked in software development, IT consulting, or research & development (R&D) organizations. Such internship programs provide students with enormous opportunities to gain hands-on, practical experience as briefly presented in the following showcases:
On Saturday 21st September 2013, CS students organized a field trip to visit the Special Education Center Region 12 in Chonburi to donate 12,000 Baht worth of scholarships for children (500 Baht per scholarship making a total of 24 scholarships) and 5,000 Baht worth of rice, white sugar, diapers, and milk.
Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University visited School of IT, SIU to promote the ACM-ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest 2013. In the past year, SIU BSCS students won 3rd prize out of 56 teams from 11 universities.
To support Thailand’s tourism industry, the School of Information Technology of Shinawatra University was honored to set up a scoring system for the Miss Tourism Thailand 2012 contest, held at the Convention Hall, The Grand Four Wings Hotel, on October 19, 2012. Also, Associate Professor Dr. Anek Hirunraks, Director of the Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program and representing SIU, presented a full scholarship for the MSIT degree to Miss Tourism Thailand 2012, Miss Sasima Surasapmani.
On Thursday, September 13, 2012, the School of Information Technology arranged a study visit to the Stock Exchange of Thailand for a group of students in various programs. The field trip was intended for students who are currently studying Information and Communication Technology related courses. The students greatly enjoyed the trip and gained real experience and knowledge during the visit.
On 7 September, School of Information Technology, Shinawatra University (SIU) organized an educational field trip to visit Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. at the Banpho Plant, Chachoengsao. From this visit, supervised by Ms. Photchanan Ratanajaipan, Associate Dean, students, from both undergraduate and graduate programs gained an insight into Toyota business practice and its sustainability as well as observing information technology usage and the company’s vehicle assembly process.
